Muschamp to Auburn? Not So Fast

Fox 10 News in Mobile, Ala., is reporting Texas DC Will Muschamp will be the next head coach at Auburn University.

*****However, according to multiple sources, MUSCHAMP DENIES BEING OFFERED THE JOB OR ACCEPTING THE JOB.*****

Which really means nothing other than AU has not offered him the job nor has he accepted the job.  Doesn’t mean the parties have not talked.  So Friday might shed more light on the situation…or might not.

*****UPDATE: Tony Barnhart of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says he and Muschamp were just chatting on the phone, and Willie denied the rumors “emphatically.”

*****UPDATE: Will Muschamp released statement of denial Fri. morning regarding the rumors.

‘I have not talked to Auburn about this job and I have no interest in the job,’ said Muschamp.  ‘I really don’t know what else to say. I’m going to stay at Texas until they fire me.’

A little stronger…but we’ll believe it when Auburn University denies it is working out a deal with Muschamp.  Our guess* is there were talks, but they have either been stalled or ended…if stalled, they may possibly pick back up…if ended, well then they’ve ended.

*Guess – verb – (used with object) – to arrive at or commit oneself to an opinion about (something) without having sufficient evidence to support the opinion fully
